Samsung tries to match the hype of the rose gold phone

It’s been released that Samsung will launch a “pink gold” version of its Note 5 “phablet” in South Korea, in a an effort to tempt customers to buy its new device over Apple’s own rose gold iPhone 6 which has been getting tons of buzz.

The new color will launch on October 23 for Samsung which is the same day as its U.S. rival’s iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are due. The color has been getting tons of press and seems to be a favorite with women in all age groups.

When the rose gold color was launched, it was the most popular color for Apple. In some instances, the phone sold out and is currently on backorder for many retailers like Verizon.

It’s clear that the South Korean electronics giant is trying to hold off the threat from Apple on its home turf after they gained a firm 14 percent of the smartphone market share in the country this past July. This number was a tripling from the same time last year, according to Counterpoint Research.

It’s has been clear that Samsung has been struggling in the smartphone market. Profits from its mobile division plunged to nearly 2.76 trillion South Korean Won.

Note that Samsung’s pink gold Note 5 will come in a 64 gigabyte version only and cost 965,800 won or about $854 American.

Which do you think will do better in the end? Apple’s version or Samsung’s version?
